UNCASVILLE, Conn. — Inside the cavernous Earth Expo Convention Center at Mohegan Sun this weekend, the idea is to get people outside.
The 2024 edition of the Fishing & Outdoor Show returned offering a bit of everything to those who come from around the area to enjoy the show.
Al Gagliarducci, affectionately known as “Al Gag”, is a local fishing legend who is being inducted into the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame -- and is known for crafting lures.
“You can book a fishing trip, you can book a hunting trip, you can catch a trout in the pond, you can watch fly fishing – you name it and it in here,” he said.
Kristie Gonsalves, the producer of the Fishing & Outdoor Show, said the 2024 edition is continuing its mission – to get families to enjoy the outside world.
“Whether it’s learning about state parks or where you can hike or camp really just getting quality time with the family,” she said.
Joe Diorio, a fishing guide from Old Lyme, said he likes the fact that the show spotlights small businesses like the one he runs.
“There’s a bunch of small businesses here,” said Diorio. “You have lure companies, tackle shops, kayak companies… and I’m showing off my guide service.”
Al Gag added: “My cliché is buy your children a tackle box not and X-Box and get them out there. G-d gave us a gift out there so go use it, go use it and enjoy it.”
