HARTFORD, Conn. — Scottie Scheffler, the #1 ranked golf player in the world, will play in the 2024 Travelers Championship tournament, Travelers announced Tuesday.
The 2024 championship, a PGA Tour signature event being held at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell on June 14 until the 17th, will be Scheffler's fifth consecutive appearance, according to Travelers.
27-year-old Scheffler of Dallas, Texas has previously won one major tournament at the 2022 Masters and a total of 6 PGA tours.
“Getting a commitment from the top-ranked player in the world sets the perfect tone for this year’s world-class Travelers Championship. Scottie has accomplished so much on the golf course, and he’s even more impressive off the course with the way he handles himself and treats everybody," Executive Vice President and , Andy Bessette, Chief Administrative Officer at Travelers, said.
Bessette continued, "With the best in the world coming to Connecticut, our fans are in for a spectacular week of golf.”
The 2024 championship will include approximately 70-80 PGA Tour players, according to Travelers. As in previous years, they will be competing for the $20 million purse.
Nathan Grube, Travelers Championship Tournament Director, said, “Our world-class player field this year will rival almost any in golf, so knowing that Scottie is coming for the fifth straight year will be very exciting for our fans. In addition to seeing the best players, spectators will enjoy new features from venues to unique food experiences that will add to the overall quality of the tournament.”
