NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The power of the sun is renewable, and in New Haven, soon to be accessed for energy in a more equitable way.
The City of New Haven has entered a partnership with PosiGen to bring solar energy to more homes in an accessible and affordable way.
"Solar for All New Haven" aims to close the energy affordability gap, and the 20 New Haven homeowners who have already installed solar energy with PosiGen are saving an average of $985 per year according to the city.
“The Solar for All initiative is an opportunity for all our residents – regardless of income – to be a part of the climate solution by switching to renewable energy, reducing their carbon footprint, and lowering their energy bill at the same time,” Mayor Justin Elicker said. “It’s good for the environment and it’s good for your bank account, and I encourage homeowners to learn more about the program and how solar energy can potentially be a great option for their home and their family.”
There will be information sessions, as well as door-to-door canvassing, and tables at community events to find out more about the initiative.
There are information sessions at the following times:
- The Shack: Thursday, May 4 at 6 p.m.
- New Haven City Hall: Thursday, May 11 at noon
- New Haven City Hall: Tuesday, May 16 at 5:30 p.m.
Solar for All will continue through the end of this year. Details can be found here or by calling 866-767-4436.
