WETHERSFIELD, Conn. — A tractor-trailer fire shut down parts of Interstate 91 in Wethersfield, snarling rush-hour traffic Friday morning.
Connecticut State Police responded to I-91 North in the area of Exit 24 just before 7:45 a.m. for what was reported to be a car fire. Firefighters from Wethersfield and Rocky Hill also responded, officials said.
The cab of the truck was reportedly fully engulfed in flames, state police said. The driver was able to get out safely and was not injured, state police added. The trailer was carrying 7,500 gallons of fuel.
Both the north and southbound sides of I-91 in Wethersfield were temporarily closed as crews investigate the scene, state police said. The southbound side and the left two lanes on the northbound side have reopened.
This is a developing story.
