Hartford Marathon is this weekend: These are the roads that will be closed during the race

Some exits off of highways will be closed for several hours in Hartford. Prepare ahead of time!

HARTFORD, Connecticut — The Hartford Marathon is taking place this Saturday and travelers should expect some road closures and delays.

Hartford and Connecticut State Police are gearing up for the busy weekend ahead. Multiple exits on Interstate 84 and Interstate 91 will be closed, as well as Route 2 and Route 5/15 in the area. 

"Awareness is the biggest thing as far as being aware of what those closures are," said Trooper Dawn Pagan with the Connecticut State Police told FOX61. "Arriving to Hartford early, making that you're paying attention, ditching any distractions you have and this way we're hoping everyone can be alert and safe."

Closures and delays will begin at 7:30 a.m. and are expected to last until 2 p.m.

Here are the surface roads drivers can expect closures and/or delays.

Hartford

Asylum Street, Broad Street, Buckingham Street, Capitol Avenue, Charter Oak Avenue, Elm Street, Ford Street, Founders Bridge, Gold Street, Huyshope Avenue, Jewell Street, Laurel Street, Main Street, Market Street, Masseek Street, Park Street, Pearl Street, Prospect Street, Rev. Moody Overpass, Sheldon Street, State Street, Van Dyke Avenue, Washington Street, Weston Street.

East Hartford

Carroll Road, East River Drive, Founders Bridge, Hartland Street, Main Street, Meadow Street, Pitkin Street, South Prospect Street 

South Windsor

King Street, Old Main Street

These are the state roads that CSP is warning drivers will be closed on Saturday.

I-84 exits 48A and B will be closed beginning at 7:30 a.m. Exit 48 B will reopen at 9 a.m. while 48A, the Asylum Street exit, will reopen at 12 p.m. 

Exit 53 off I-84 east will also be closed starting at 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. 

Heading westbound on I-84, exit 54 will remain open into downtown Hartford, but the Founders Bridge heading eastbound will remain closed. Exit 50, Main Street, will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. 

On I-91 southbound, both exits 32B and 31 will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. 

Exit 32B on the northbound side of I-91 will also be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. 

On Route 2, exit 5 on the eastbound side will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Westbound, Exit 3 will be closed from 7:30 .m. to 2 p.m. 

Those traveling on Route 5/15 both south and northbound will see exit 90 closed from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. 

In addition, the Conlin-Whitehead Highway inbound will be closed at Columbus Boulevard in Hartford.
