Route 9 southbound in Middletown has reopening after it was shut down at exit 16 Friday morning due to a crash.
Middletown Fire officials confirmed that they responded to the scene, as a vehicle had rolled over and passengers were trapped.
According to police, a Kia Sorento and Chevrolet Malibu collided in the south bound lane of Rte.9 in the area of Hartford Ave.
Middletown PD said a Kia Sorento was rolled on its side in the median with a male party trapped inside.
A Chevrolet Malibu was on the western shoulder of Rte 9 south which had sustained major damage, the three occupants of this vehicle were also entrapped, police said in a release.
All trapped parties were extricated. A total of 4 patients were transported to the hospital.
The Kia occupant and one from the Chevy were transported to Hartford Hospital. Two more occupants of the Chevrolet were transported to Children’s Medical Center in Hartford.
All injuries are presumed to be non-life threatening, police said.
The Middletown Police Department Traffic Division is investigating the crash at this time.
