BROOKLYN, Conn — A truck and car collision on Route 6 in Brooklyn, Connecticut has turned fatal.
Connecticut State Police said at 6:56 p.m. Tuesday, Troop D went to a collision involving a truck and a passenger vehicle on Route 6 (Hartford Road) in Brooklyn. EMS and the local fire department were also dispatched.
A preliminary investigation reveals the car was traveling eastbound on Route 6 and the truck was traveling west when the car went into the westbound land and collided with the truck. After impact, the truck rolled onto its passenger side.
The car driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the truck driver was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. State police identified the victim as Carlos Garcia-Giron, 38, of Willimantic.
The CSP C.A.R.S. Unit (Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Squad) responded to assist with the investigation. This investigation is ongoing.
Route 6 was shut down for several hours for the investigation and has since reopened.
