WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. — The holiday season is here and that means friends and families traveling far and wide to reunite, once again. Here are a few tips to help you prepare ahead of the busy travel schedule.
The Connecticut Airport Authority is anticipating 110,000 passengers to travel out of Bradley Airport from Dec. 20 to Dec. 31 with the busiest travel times being from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m.
To ensure you have a smooth and quick journey to your destination you should:
Arrive ahead of time
Plan to arrive inside the airport terminal at least 90 minutes before your flight to make sure you have enough time to go through TSA and check in with your airline.
Stay in the know
Stay in contact with the airline at all times by downloading the airline's app. You can check in, get your boarding pass, and get real-time alerts about any flight changes.
Prepare to park
If you're taking your car, be sure to check parking options ahead of time. BDL’s new parking system is called BDL sPARK and offers several convenient options a short distance from the main terminal with a complimentary shuttle service available. No reservation is needed and prices start at $7 a day. Visit BDL’s parking website.
Check your packed items twice
Wrapped gifts can be placed in your carry-on or checked bag, but they may need to be inspected by TSA. TSA advises travelers to place the items in gift bags instead.
Hungry? Order your food online
You can submit mobile orders for food online. To browse through the menu visit bdlmarket.com.
“The month of December is really capping off what’s been a busy year of travel for us,” said Kevin A. Dillon, A.A.E., Executive Director of the CAA in a statement. “Bradley International Airport now offers more nonstop flights than prior to the pandemic and over the course of the year we have made significant progress in enhancing the travel experience at the airport.”
