There is something special when you step inside the 1754 House in Woodbury. The 17 rooms on Main Street South have recently been renovated and the entire space has been decorated for Christmas.
“It really is one of the best times of the year that the whole vision for the house comes together as a gathering place for locals and travelers alike,” says owner and head chef, Michael Bates-Walsh.
Whether you’re coming from near or far you’ll love the food. Chef Bates-Walsh is crafting favorites including Maple glazed pork loin and caramel corn using bourbon from the nearby Litchfield Distillery.
“It’s addictive is what I have been told, so people are very impressed and pleased."
The Christmas cookies are also top-notch and for the holidays you can grab decorating kits to-go! Manager Cara McArdle has been making and decorating the treats for years and the mom of four says it’s okay if yours aren’t perfect!
“You know, it is trial and error. You just try everything. Usually the less pretty they look, the better they taste,” says McArdle.
Diners are welcome Tuesday to Sunday and if you're spending the night, rooms range from about $130-$175 a night.
“I want them to leave feeling this is a place they look forward to coming back to,” says McArdle.
