CT Bucket List: Matterhorn Mini Golf in Canton

It brings the Swiss Alps to Connecticut, as a unique spot for the entire family!

CANTON, Conn. — The FOX61 Spring Bucket List tour headed to Matterhorn Mini Golf in Canton on Friday. It brings the Swiss Alps to Connecticut, as a unique spot for the entire family!

Autumn Sutherland, the Owner of Matterhorn, transformed what was an old Canton Antique Shop into what’s now known as Matterhorn Mini Golf.

“I designed the course and many people come off the course saying it feels like I just went to Epcot because we are trying to hit all of the senses when they are here at Matterhorn,” said Sutherland.

Sutherland wanted to make Matterhorn different than other mini-golf establishments in the area, so she combined her love for Switzerland and the sport.

Pat Sheridan is a Mini Golf Enthusiast who has competed all over the world, visiting over 200 courses and says Matterhorn remains one of his favorites.

“Every hole is not only amazingly designed, it has a Switzerland theme, but also what is really cool is that you can get a hole in one, theoretically, at every hole”.

Sutherland says it fuels her passion when she sees the kids’ reactions after spending hours on the course. “My favorite scene is when people are leaving is when a little kid grabbed his grandpa’s hand and says can we come back? It’s just that feeling of pure joy and success.”

Kids 6 and under play for $4, everyone else for around $10.
