GLASTONBURY, Conn. — Golfers and non Golfers, listen up!
Whether you're young or old, a pro or brand new, here at Oakwood Virtual Golf owner Tom Delaney, gives you a whole different view.
"There's nobody pressuring you from behind, when you are out on the course sometimes it can get, especially for newbies, you got people coming up behind you it's intimidating," said Delaney. "You start screwing up your game even more, and it's all over the place."
Here though, that's not the case. For $50 you'll get an hour in 1 of 7 private booths, known as sims, for a group of 4. They are also set up for social distancing, sanitize between groups, and then, once you are in your sim, you can take your mask off.
But if you're really a newbie, or you want to step your game up, George Connor, the top golfing coach in our state, and assistant coach for the Hartford Hawks women's golf team, gives lessons at Oakwood Virtual Golf during the colder months.
"Start in the winter," said Connor. "There's nothing to worry about here... to start indoors in a place like this, I think that's the best way to go."
You can bring your own clubs, or rent a set for $10, there are food and drink options, as well as corn hole, billiards, virtual reality, regular golf, and even mini golf.
"When I hear a scream coming from a sim, it's awesome," said Delaney. "These people are having so much fun, and I made this, it's really cool."
Oakwood Virtual Golf is currently operating under summer hours. They are open daily from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and if it's raining, you can check online for an earlier tee time. For more information you can go here:
