MIDDLEBURY, Conn. — Daytrippers visited Quassy Amusement and Waterpark in Middlebury on Monday where the fun continues decade after decade!
FOX61's Margaux Farrell and Keith McGilvery explored the park and spoke with those who help Quassy a place families continue to enjoy every year.
“I just love that it’s been an institution. We’ve been here for over 100 years," said Quassy team member George Frantzis Jr.
Frantzis is following in his father’s footsteps, carrying his name, and the tradition that is Quassy Amusement and Waterpark.
“It’s been in the family for three, now coming into four generations between the Frantzis family and the Anderson family," explained George Frantzis Sr, “Family traditions and generations of families that have been through our park and the relationships that start here – that’s where memories are made."
Four generations later, the nostalgia of it all lives on.
The park sits right on Lake Quassapaug, mixing water rides, dry rides, and fun in one of Connecticut’s most beautiful bodies of water.
Quassy's waterpark Splash Away Bay, and Quassy Beach will open beginning May 29th.
Quassy Amusement Park & Waterpark is celebrating its 113th year and features more than two dozen rides and attractions. The amusement ride area of the park opened on April 24 for weekend hours.
“You get the personal touch everywhere. You go you’re not waiting in line too long anywhere, and you can kinda relax and let the day go on autopilot – less planning, less rigidity, more freeform fun,” said Frantzis Jr.
If you’re interested in visiting Quassy, tickets will cost adults roughly $34 on the weekend and $32 on weekdays. Children cost $30 on the weekend and $28 during the week.
You can learn more about how you can visit on Quassy's website.
