PORTLAND, Conn. — From their giant water slides to the expansive zip lines, the team at Brownstone Adventure Sports Park is gearing up for another heat wave and another wave of customers coming through the gates.
With temperatures expected to reach 90 degrees and above for most of this week, Brownstone is already selling out tickets.
Bridget Anderson, the ticket supervisor at Brownstone, said, “it’s hot, it's really hot and we love it.”
Anderson added that Brownstone is seeing visitors making the trip to Portland from beyond the borders of Connecticut, offering an array of aquatic activities is especially popular this summer.
She said, “On weekends we are getting a lot of people from New York, a lot from Rhode Island and a ton of people from Massachusetts.”
Sean Mazza, a ticketing lead at Brownstone added, “we are seeing a lot of spikes in our sales and a lot of families coming into the park…it’s kind of a hidden gem.”
During the extreme heat forecasted for this week, Mazza noted that staying cool means guests should be planning ahead.
Mazza said, "We always tell people to just reserve (tickets) ahead of time because we do sell out a lot – especially on days like this, during a heat wave.”
With visitors jumping from rope swings and splashing around behind her in the quarry waters, Anderson said, “the water is the perfect temperature to come and cool off during these hot weeks.”
