CONNECTICUT, USA — Hurray! Much of our region received a good soaking rain on Thursday and Friday. The Hartford area picked up about 1.14'' during the time period. However, this was insufficient to end the severe drought conditions that are ongoing. To put matters into better perspective, we are still looking at the driest fall on record.
Well, there is some good news to report - our rain chances do not end there. There will be two more opportunities for some well-rains over the next five days. Our next system will be sweeping through Monday night into Tuesday morning with scattered showers. Then, we are looking at another shot for rain on Thanksgiving Day.
Breezy conditions will continue into tonight along with some passing clouds. Winds will coming from the west around 10- 15 mph and gusting to near 30 mph.
Hold on to those hats on Sunday as breezy conditions will persist. Winds can gust up to 35 mph. Besides the strong winds, Sunday will feature intervals of clouds and sunshine.
Monday will feature an abundance of sunshine with high temperatures on the seasonable side. Winds will be much calmer with gusts nearing 20 mph.
It's a quiet start to Thanksgiving week. Showers are possible later Thursday on Thanksgiving and there's a growing signal for a Black Friday storm. Rain and or snow are possible with some cooler air around. We'll keep you posted in the coming days.
