Will we see heavy rain Tuesday night?

2" to 4" of rain is expected, but the melting snow may add another inch or more of water in spots.

HARTFORD, Conn — We are on the Weather Watch again for another high-impact storm Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Unfortunately, this will be a warmer storm, with mainly rain.

Coming just two days after our first snowfall of the season, the melting snow will combine with heavy rain to increase the risk for flooding. Soil moisture is also higher than usual following a very wet December.

2 to 4 inches of rain is likely. That alone can be enough to cause issues. Rivers and streams will be on the rise and some will likely go into flood. Poor-drainage areas and city streets with clogged storm drains may flood as well. If you have a susceptible basement, more flooding is possible.

A Flood Watch has been issued for the entire state.

As of Monday morning, 9 inches of snow were on the ground in Windsor Locks, which melted down to 1.4 inches of liquid.

In Bristol, 8 inches of snow were on the ground, which melted down to 1.2 inches of liquid.

Most if not all of the snow will melt, with the exception being in parts of northern Connecticut where there may be some patches that remain.
