HARTFORD, Conn — As the week comes to a close, I’d like to share some more information about Lyme disease, which is the focus of this week’s Pet Parasite Forecast. Lyme is a tick-borne disease that poses a real threat to our pets. It’s prevalent in every state, including Connecticut; however, infection rates vary in different areas, so it’s important to stay up to date on the latest trends. Let’s take a look at the Pet Parasite Forecast for more information as we move into the weekend.
Throughout the state, Lyme disease in dogs is unfortunately forecasted to be high – especially in Litchfield and Windham counties. Before spending time with your pup outdoors this weekend, make sure you’re keeping them safe by talking to your vet about lasting tick protection. Other steps you can take to protect your furry friends include keeping your lawn well-maintained and doing a tick check on them and yourself as soon as you come back inside. Stay safe and enjoy the weekend!
