Connecticut cooling centers open amid extreme hot weather protocol

The protocol will be effective beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday and continue through 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

CONNECTICUT, USA — Gov. Ned Lamont issued an extreme hot weather protocol for Wednesday afternoon, cooling centers throughout the state are now open. 

The protocol will be effective beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday and continue through 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

This will be the first time this summer that the protocol has been enacted.

Here are some locations where you can find cooling centers.

Waterbury

North End Rec - Open 8:00 am to 8:00 pm hours, July 5, 6, and 7 - 268 N. Main St.

CHD Hospitality Center - Open 8:30 am to 8:00 pm, July 6 and 7 - 690 E. Main St.

Waterbury Senior Center - Open 9:00 to 2:00 pm July 5, 6, and 7 - 1985 E. Main St

Maloney Magnet School - Open 8:00 am to 8:00 pm hours July 5, 6, and 7- 233 S. Elm St.

NEW LONDON

New London Public Library-, 63 Huntington Street, Adult Reading Room e 9:30 am to 7:00 pm Thursday, on Friday 9:30 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday 9:30 am to 1:00 pm  

Senior Citizen’s Center- 120 Broad Street Thursday and Friday m 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. 

Bridgeport

Senior Centers (Open only on weekdays):

Danbury War Memorial located on One Memorial Drive in Danbury is available as a Cooling Center W-F: 5 am-10 pm; Sat, Sun: 7 am-5 pm

Danbury Public Library located on 170 Main Street is available as a Cooling Center W-F: 10 am-8 pm; Sat: 10 am-2 pm
