SOMERS, Conn. — Multiple people in Somers reported seeing a funnel-shaped cloud come through town Sunday evening, and high winds toppled trees and damaged houses. And now the National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado briefly touched down.
The storm blew through shortly after 6 p.m. Several people posted videos of what appeared to be a rotating funnel-shaped cloud.
Witnesses tell FOX61 that the storm developed and dispersed or moved on very quickly, within minutes.
About 10:30 p.m., the National Weather Service confirmed that an EF-0 level tornado, the weakest possible, touched down around 6:11 p.m. on Sunday.
