HARTFORD, Conn. — A quick band of storms rolled through Connecticut on Friday afternoon, leaving lots of much-needed rain and damage from strong winds behind.
A brief tornado storm warning was in effect in Hartford and Tolland counties for around 25 minutes during the afternoon, and most of the state was under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. Friday.

Several downed trees have been discovered around parts of the state, including route 159 at River Road in Windsor Locks, where a tree is blocking the road.
Around 3:19 p.m. in East Windsor, a tree came down on someone's two-story home. The Red Cross is working to relocate the couple living in the house.
Trees and powerlines are down in other areas around East Windsor, according to the local fire marshal.
Route 39 in Sherman is also closed at Briarwood Drive because of a tree down in wires, according to the Connecticut Dept. of Transportation.
Earlier in the afternoon, hail dropped down in northern Connecticut.
Debbie from Windsor found some around 2:15 p.m. Friday.
Over in East Granby, lightning strikes could be seen approaching from Windsor Locks.
In Coventry on route 31 Main St. near Domitris and Coventry Grammar School, a transformer fire from the storm closed the street. There were also wires down on North School Rd.
Eversource has over 600 customers without power as of 5:30 a.m. Saturday, with the most outages in East Windsor, Burlington, Sherman, Tolland, and Windsor.
