CONNECTICUT, USA — Eversource crews have been out in force on Wednesday as multiple outages impact parts of the state.
On Wednesday afternoon, high winds from a storm front moving across the state knocked down tree limbs, plunging areas of Southwestern Connecticut into darkness. As of 5 p.m., more than 4,400 people in the state were without power.
You can find the latest outage numbers on Eversource's website.
The state's largest electric supplier said on Tuesday that they were working to prepare for the storm. While they can't stop the tree limbs from falling, the company brought in additional line workers to help restore power as quickly as possible after it goes out.
“We’ll have crews in position around the state with a heavy emphasis in the areas expecting the highest winds, so they’re ready to restore power as soon as it's safe to do so,” said Eversource Connecticut President Steve Sullivan.
Gusts of up to 60 MPH are expected across the Eastern part of the state, and rainfall could lead to pockets of flooding in areas with poor drainage.
The front is expected to move out of the area around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, but electric customers could feel the effects after the worst has passed.
