    NEW HAVEN — Officers are on the scene of a deadly crash involving a pedestrian in the area of 662 Middletown Avenue. Police say a vehicle hit a man early Tuesday morning as he was crossing the street. The driver of the vehicle involved is cooperating with police. Part of Middletown Avenue was closed between Cranston Street and Cross Street for a portion of the morning but has since reopened. This is a developing story.

  • Microsoft Paint expected to stick around a little while longer

    REDMOND, WA — It appears Microsoft will not delete its iconic paint application after all. According to a post on Windows’ blog site, the Microsoft Paint app will be available for free in the Windows store. The company said that they received an overwhelming outpouring of support for the app after fans were concerned it would be removed in the Windows 10 Creators update.   • Recall issued for hot dogs sold at Stew Leonards

    NORWALK — If you recently bought hot dogs from Stew Leonard’s you may want to check your fridge. A voluntary recall has been issued for Sabrett and Stew Leonard’s brand refrigerated hot dogs sold at Stew Leonard’s Stores . Sabrett/Marathon Enterprises said there are concerns the hot dogs may have pieces of bone or cartilage inside them.   • Crews responding to structure fire in Norwich

    NORWICH— Fire crews responded to a three-alarm structure fire at 13 South 2nd Avenue in Norwich Monday morning. The building is described as a mixed use warehouse and the fire broke out at around 5:25 a.m. Crews found heavy fire in the basement extending up to the upper floors.   • State Police: 2 injured after swerving off road to avoid chipmunk

    GRISWOLD— Two people were injured in a crash after State Police said the driver was trying to avoid hitting a chipmunk. The crash happened on Bitgood Road near Voluntown Road in Griswold just after 5 p.m. Friday. Troopers said the driver, 55 year old Debbie Pezzente, swerved off the road and struck a utility pole then went down an embankment into the water.   • 1 injured in Terryville house fire

    TERRYVILLE —  A person was taken to the hospital after an early morning house fire in Terryville. Plymouth police said the fire was reported around 5 a.m. and happened at a home in the area of 86 Main Street. FOX 61 has learned that the person injured is being treated for smoke inhalation at Bristol Hospital. Check back with FOX 61 as this story develops.  

  • Bus crashes into building in Vernon

    VERNON— Authorities are investigating after they said a bus crashed into a building early Friday morning. According to Tolland County 911’s twitter feed, the crash happened in the area of 100 West Street in Vernon. VERNON UPDATE: First arriving unit reports transit bus vs building.   • Man on motorcycle seriously injured in East Haven crash

    EAST HAVEN— Authorities are investigating after a car and motorcycle crashed Saturday afternoon. East Haven police responded to the area of Foxon Road and Green Street around 4:30 p.m. Police have identified the driver of the motorcycle as 61 year old Michael Ferrara. He was seriously injured and transported to Yale- New Haven Hospital. As of Sunday afternoon Ferrara was listed in critical condition.
