  • 8-year-old boy at school slashes other students with knife

    MINNESOTA — An 8-year-old student attacked three other students with a knife at an elementary school Monday morning, according to the New York Post.  Authorities said the second grade boy brought a kitchen knife from home which he used to randomly attack his classmates. The three victims, ages 8, 9, and 13, suffered “superficial wounds” and required stitches following the attack, according to Police Chief Perry Beise.   • Researchers at UConn School of Medicine make shocking discovery about bathroom hand dryers

    FARMINGTON — A recent study at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, made a shocking discovery about public restrooms, but specifically hand dryers. According to the  Applied and Environmental Microbiology journal, they found that the air being blasted from hand dryer’s contains fecal bacteria. Scientists sampled 36 bathrooms at the Farmington campus. In the study, they compared normal bathroom air to the air being blasted from hand dryer nozzles.     NEW LONDON —  A New London man was arrested Thursday after police said he was in possession of numerous drugs. New London Police Department said around 11:20 a.m., they arrested Jeffrey Gilliman, 37,  following a motor vehicle stop. Police said Gilliman was in possession of 15.6 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 13.9 grams of powered cocaine, approximately 5.6 grams of heroin, 25 sertaline hudrochloride pills and $936.     MOHEGAN SUN — A Silver Alert has been cancelled for William Dubauskas after he was found. Until he was found, Dubauskas was last seen yesterday at Mohegan Sun wearing a black pullover shirt that has a horizontal gray stripe across the chest, jeans, and dark sneakers. Silver Alerts are issued by law enforcement agencies for missing people of all ages. Amber Alerts are issued for children who are believed to be in danger.

    A team of researchers said in a published study that they discovered the farthest star ever seen in an image provided by the famed Hubble Space Telescope, according to FOX News.
