WETHERSFIELD–The Department of Motor Vehicles is asking its system provider to provide more resources to resolve issues that have plagued offices for days.
The DMV issued a “demand” to the 3M Corporation to provide funds and resources to resolve the hardware and software issues that caused sporadic outages. The 3M Corp. agreed to have experts in both areas in Connecticut on Friday to resolve the issue.
The DMV and 3M have a contract for 3M to fix the registration system, and while both parties and the Department of Administrative Services have been working together for days, the cause of the problem has not yet been identified.
The DMV decided in February not to renew its contract with 3M for its licensing system due to ongoing issues, but the current contract is still in play.
