SOUTHINGTON--After months of work, the "Home of Distinction" has been completed.
It's got the most sophisticated technology -- the house is operated from a touch screen panel! -- plus gorgeous finishings. And that includes furniture.
Jedd Reich, whose father opened Furniture Barn in Cheshire exactly 50 years ago, helped put together the final touches on the home. Many are unique, and most were designed and built right here in America.
"It's great because it's contextual, it's something that resonates in the community," Reich said of why his business was interested in displaying their products to the public in an actual home.
"Gray is the neutral, the new everything...but you'll see some great splashes of color as well," Reich said of why he picked his color palate.
Tours of the model home, which is not for sale but displays the latest trends in design and building, are available starting September 9: on Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., and proceeds benefit the Bread for Life, which serves more than 35,000 meals to the hungry each year.
