MARLBOROUGH -- After weeks of battling fast-moving wildfires in Idaho, a group of Connecticut firefighters returned home on Wednesday.

Families anxiously awaited for the crew of about 20 to return home. The firefighters spent about 19 days out West battling fires.

Kristen Wiggins, who is the wife of a crew member, said she was feeling the same jitters she felt on her wedding day as she waited for her husband to come off the bus.

"I'm a teacher so I started back at work the same day he came back," said Wiggins, "So it was a lot of transition, so it was hard but I'm so happy to see him today."

Wiggins said she's been married for five years, and although they've been apart for other assignments this is the longest she's ever been apart from her husband.

"I really enjoy the work I really enjoy being out West but there's nothing like coming home especially now," said Justin Wiggins.
