Things to do in Connecticut this Labor Day Weekend

From a jazz festival to apple cider donuts and corn mazes, here's what's happening in Connecticut this weekend!

CONNECTICUT, USA — While Labor Day Weekend is seen as the "unofficial end of summer," that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of events happening across the state that'll see a fitting end to the season!

Zoom over to Limerock Park in Lakeville this weekend for their Historic Festival! If you're a car enthusiast or know someone who is, this festival is a must! It'll feature all kinds of racing competitions, a swap meet, automobilia, featured speakers, concessions, and more. Race categories range from pre-war and open-wheel cars to sports and formula cars. On Sunday, nearly 1,000 cars and motorcycles will be on display throughout the park. Times vary; learn more about the festival and a schedule of events here.

Get your groove on at the Connecticut River & Roots Festival in Windsor! This is a free community festival that features music, food, and fun! There's a lineup of musical entertainment, including roots and folk musicians, speakers, dance performances, and instrument demonstrations. There will also be vendors and food trucks, a wine and beer tent, and other fun activities! The festival will take place on Sept. 1 from noon to 5 p.m. Learn more here.

It's fair season in Connecticut, and this weekend will feature one of the oldest agricultural fairs in the state! The Woodstock Fair is the state's second-oldest agricultural fair and will showcase agriculture and community through interactive exhibits, shows, and contests. There's also a variety of delicious food, amazing performances, fun rides, and more! Learn more about the fair here.

Head to Redding this weekend for the 63rd Annual Mark Twain Library Book Fair! Over 60,000 books will be for sale, organized into 72 categories! Admission is free (there is also a $20 early admission fee for Friday only), and there is also free parking and refreshments available for purchase. Sunday is a half-price day, and Monday is $10 for a full box of books. Learn more about the book fair here.

If there's one thing that signals the coming of autumn, it's a good apple cider donut. Lyman Orchards is hosting its Corn Maze and Cider Donut Festival this Saturday and Sunday! It's two days full of events the whole family can enjoy, including horse-drawn wagon rides, live music, pick your own apples and pears, and even square dancing! Learn more about the festival and see a schedule of events here.

And finally, if you're looking for more music to enjoy this weekend, head to Bridgeport for the 4th Annual Bridgeport Jazz Festival on Saturday! Performances include local jazz bands like The Keynotes Jazz Band, Alivia, The Souful Jazz Trio, and many more. There will also be shopping as well as food and drink vendors and support from local businesses in the area. Admission is free! Learn more about the event here.
