Things happening in Connecticut this weekend, Jan. 12-14

From tribute bands to an interstellar trip down the slopes, here's what's happening in the state this weekend.

CONNECTICUT, USA — While we may get some showers this weekend, that doesn't make it a washout. If you don't have plans for the weekend, here are some ideas you along with friends and family can check out around the state!

It's laughs and lager at New England Cider Company as the Comedy Craft Beer Tour makes a stop Friday night! Head to the Wallingford Brewery for a night of laughing and drinking while enjoying some of the funniest comics from all over the Northeast. The tour has made stops in New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Maryland for over three years. This show will headline Brian Beaudoin and more! Tickets are $25 and the show runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Learn more about the show here.

Jam out at the Water's Edge Resort & Spa in Westbrook with Sweet Hitch-Hiker, a tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival! CCR rose in popularity in the 1960s and early 1970s with its Southern Rock style (despite being from San Francisco) and sold over 26 million albums! The show begins at 7 p.m. with a reception at 6 p.m. On Saturday. Learn more about the show and book tickets here.

See what train artist Steve Cryan has created this year with a fully operational, nearly 30-foot train layout, "I Spy" scavenger hunts, and a toddler-sized viewing layout. You can catch the show Tuesday through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Learn more about the show here.

It's one of the last weekends to catch the bright lights and magical nights at the Holiday Lights Spectacular event at Olde Mistick Village! It's one of the largest holiday light displays in southern New England and is free to the public! The final day to catch the event is Jan. 31. Over half a million lights will be lit to decorate the idyllic Olde Mistick Village Square, which is full of shops and restaurants for families to enjoy! Parking is also free. Village holiday hours vary; head here for more information.
