NEW HARTFORD, Conn. — After flooding rains washed out so many of their most important days in 2023, Farmington River Tubing is rebounding.
The 38-year-old family business has been the beneficiary of a run of favorable weather since they opened on Memorial Day.
Jeremy Harraden, the owner of Farmington River Tubing said, "It is going great this year, the weather is on our side, and the water is on our side.”

Last year at this time, Harraden noted that his business was greatly impacted by relentless rains, “It was stressful, the weather did not cooperate, the river was flooded quite a bit. Last July, I want to say we were closed 20 plus days out of July and it was (during) the prime days – the Fourth of July right on. The best days of summer were lost last year.”
As this Fourth of July holiday weekend approaches, it is a different outlook for Farmington River Tubing – and for so many businesses that rely on the Farmington River.
Harraden added, “It could be a spectacular week coming up, people should definitely come out and enjoy the river and take advantage of this sunshine and the perfect water conditions.”
Harraden also estimated that the holiday weekend could bring as many as 1000 visitors to Farmington River Tubing and he said that his team is ready.
“The customers are coming and they are having fun, we are hoping for a great year," he said.
