The museum staff said that the exhibit not only celebrates women who have broken the sound barrier, but also those in flight who broke societal barriers.

WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. — The  "New England Women in Aviation" exhibit at the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks has a brighter focus on it to celebrate Women’s History Month.

Amanda Goodheart Parks, director of education at the New England Air Museum said, “it’s a perfect timing to stop by and check it out for Women’s History Month because it tells the stories of women who you might be familiar with, like Amelia Erhardt, as women you might not be familiar with.”

Stephanie Abrams, president and CEO at the New England Air Museum, said that the month of March is a time to shine a spotlight on the exhibit which opened almost two years ago.

"These are the unsung heroes, these women are just courageous, and trailblazers and they are local women, local to New England," Abrams said.
