HARTFORD, Conn. — Connecticut Open House Day, a tradition held yearly for the past two decades, will be held Saturday as the Office of Tourism is continuing its efforts to promote the state.
Rachel Lenda, the new director of the Connecticut Office of Tourism, said that Open House Day “really gives all of our local museums and attractions an opportunity to showcase all of the wonderful things they offer ahead of the summer months coming up when we are in peak travel season.”
Lenda noted that, from border to border, there are all sorts of options for visitors.
“Not only is Open House Day a great opportunity for travelers to come into Connecticut, but it’s also an even better opportunity for residents to really enjoy the attractions and they don’t have to go over the borders,” Lenda said.
Depending on the venue, Open House Day will provide visitors with free admission or reduced costs for various activities. For instance, this Saturday, the Old State House in Hartford is offering free admission all day, while the Connecticut Trolley Museum in East Windsor is offering free admission between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Lenda added, “we are the state of extremes, Connecticut has it all!”
