CONNECTICUT, USA — With Thanksgiving around the corner, multiple organizations throughout Connecticut have planned free meals for those in need.
See below for a list of where people can find no-cost Thanksgiving meals in the state:
Wednesday, Nov. 27
- Wilson-Gray YMCA - 444 Albany Ave., Hartford: A meal and coat giveaway for Hartford youth and families is happening from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of the 13th annual Thanksgiving dinner. To-go boxes are available. Matthew Lawrence from the Baltimore Ravens will be in attendance to help distribute coats to those in need. Anyone with questions can contact Darlene at darlene.young@ghymca.org. Coat donations of all sizes will be accepted.
Thursday, Nov. 28
- Salvation Army - 661 Main St., Manchester: A sit-down dinner is happening from 12-1 p.m. The event is open to the general public and there is no need to register.
- 90 Main St., New Britain: Sit-down meals will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of a collaboration between the Black Ministers Alliance of New Britain, the New Britain Police Department, City of New Britain Fire Department, Central Connecticut State University, EC Goodwin Technical High School and New Britain High School.
- Grace Episcopal Church - 336 Main St., Old Saybrook: All are welcome for a Thanksgiving dinner held from 1-2p.m, according to the Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries. A list of different pantries and their locations throughout the week can be found here.
- Cornerstone Community Kitchen - 15 Prospect St., Vernon: A Thanksgiving dinner will be held from 2-4 p.m., courtesy of Vernon Center Middle School, Tolland Lions Club, Gap2Gap Baseball and Softball Organization, Little Scribbles Child Care, Maple Street School, St. Joseph Church and others.
- First Congregational Church - 23 South Main St., Wallingford: Dinners will be available in-person from 12-2 p.m. Anyone with questions can call 203-514-8883 or email wallingfordcommunitydinners@gmail.com.
