WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The Corner Pug announced Thursday it will be closing its doors on Aug. 17.
Restaurant owner Ted Vetter, 75, said in a Facebook post, “Since the pandemic our business plan has changed. Prices have skyrocketed, from chicken wings to insurance coverage and dramatic labor costs.”
The pub is known for its "pug paraphernalia," punny name and food and drink menu.
Vetter also said, “It’s been a good run. Cheers & Beers…” The comments are filled with sadness, with one user writing, “Best of health, enjoy your retirement! Will miss The Pug!”
One comment even asked for one of the recipes to be shared.
The tavern-style restaurant is located on New Britain Ave. and New Park Ave. in West Hartford.
Until it's gone for good, The Corner Pug is open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, it’s open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Finally, on Sundays it’s open from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Happy hour is from 4-6 p.m. on weekdays.
The post said, “We look forward to seeing many familiar faces in the next month to share many memories from once the years!”
