PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Seven guns have been seized from a Windsor man who admitted to a federal judge in Rhode Island that he sold nearly 90 grams of fentanyl, according to a release from Zachary Cunha, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Rhode Island.
Daniel Alexander Smith, 20, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison, Cunha said.
According to the release, Smith admitted that between late February and May 2023, he sold seven guns; he also sold a total of 89.67 grams of fentanyl over the course of five separate transactions that took place while Smith was being surveilled by members of law enforcement, who took the firearms and drugs, Cunha said.
Seized during the investigation were a Century Arms AK-47 rifle, a Glock 26 semi-automatic pistol, a High Standard revolver, a Taurus PT111 9mm handgun, an FN Tactical Model 502 .22 caliber pistol, a Glock 19x 9mm pistol and a High Standard M200 20-gauge shotgun, the release said.
Cunha added that at the time of Smith’s arrest, police also took a loaded Glock 22 with a 22-round magazine with a Switch attached from Smith’s vehicle. The Switch could be used to convert the gun to a fully automatic weapon, the release said.
Smith was sentenced on Wednesday, Cunha said, adding that his five-year prison sentence will be followed by three years of federal supervised release.
