MARLBOROUGH, Conn. — A driver was clocked going more than 100 mph on Route 66 in Marlborough last week.
Joshua Secore, 27, of East Hampton was spotted speeding in a GMC K2500 pickup truck and passing other vehicles around 8:35 p.m. on Wednesday. A state police trooper, who was in the area for the “High Risk Rural Road” initiative, clocked him going 105 mph.
When the trooper turned on his lights, Secore then sped up to an estimated 115 mph.
“The GMC was then observed passing another vehicle by entering the opposing lane of travel, at the crest of a hill, in a curved section of the roadway, creating a risk of serious physical injury to himself and others,” state police said in a statement.
The state trooper caught up to Secore when he abruptly turned into a residential driveway.
Secore was taken into custody.
Police said Secore admitted to knowing the trooper was about to conduct a traffic stop and he “purposefully accelerated and entered a driveway in an attempt to elude the trooper.”
Secore, who will turn 28 next week, was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, interfering with an officer and reckless operation of a motor vehicle. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court in April.
