STAMFORD, Conn. — Eleven Connecticut residents have been indicted on federal charges of trafficking and possessing drugs in many spots in Fairfield County.
The group is accused of selling and distributing cocaine, crack and fentanyl out of Connecticut, according to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
A federal grand jury in New Haven handed down three separate indictments on Wednesday, May 22, charging the 11 defendants.
The following were indicted with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine and heroin, and some face additional drug and firearm charges:
- Rodney Canada, 47, of Stamford
- Raymond Baker, 43, of Stamford - also indicted with cocaine possession with intent to sell, firearm possession
- Willi Bazelais, 30, of Stamford
- Danny Turkvan, 53, of Stamford
- Terrell Wills, 50, of Darien
- Christopher Adams, 57, of Norwalk - also indicted of cocaine possession with intent to sell
- Gerald Coley, 54, of Bridgeport
- Benjamin Dozier, 42, of Bridgeport - also indicted of firearm possession
Gavin Hammett, 59, of Bridgeport was indicted of intending to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and a quantity of fentanyl, and firearm possession charges.
Jimmy Arce, 40, of Bridgeport and Omar Parra, 37, of Stamford were indicted with conspiracy to distribute and possess fentanyl, cocaine and heroin. Arce is also charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and Parra is also charged with possession to distribute fentanyl and cocaine, and faces firearm possession charges.
All indicted, except for Parra, were arrested on May 14 in connection to those charges; Parra had been in federal custody since March. They all remain detained, officials said. Additional people were arrested on state charges that day.
After the arrests, officials conducted searches in Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport and Darien and found cocaine, raw and bagged fentanyl, several firearms, a bulletproof vest and seven vehicles.
