HARTFORD, Conn. — A 39-year-old man from Hartford was shot and killed late Sunday night, police said.
Hartford police officers responded to the area of 78 Cabot Street after a ShotSpotter activation around 11:21 p.m. When they arrived, they found an unresponsive man seated in a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency first responders attempted lifesaving measures before the victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital for further treatment. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The victim was identified on Monday as Jose Jesus Cortez, 39, of Hartford.
The Hartford police major crimes and crime scene divisions have taken over the investigation of the shooting. No additional information about the shooting was immediately available.
