CROMWELL, Conn. — The Travelers Championship announced on Wednesday that journalist Lesley Stahl, of CBS’ “60 Minutes”, will headline this year’s Women’s Day Breakfast on Thursday, June 20, at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell.

The event’s net proceeds will go toward tournament charities. More than $28 million has been generated by the tournament for over 900 local charities since 2007, when Travelers became the title sponsor, according to a release from Travelers.

Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube said in the release that the Women’s Day Breakfast is highly anticipated and promises to be exceptional with Stahl as the headliner.

“Lesley has one of the most distinguished careers in journalism and, having broken a number of barriers in her time, she will no doubt leave the audience feeling inspired,” Grube said.

After joining CBS News in 1971, Stahl became the first woman at CBS to serve as White House correspondent and host of “Face of the Nation” before going on to interview numerous world leaders during her three-plus decades spent working as a correspondent on “60 Minutes”.

Stahl has received 13 Emmys, including one for lifetime achievement. She has also earned the Edward R. Murrow Award, the Alfred L. duPont-Columbia University Silver Baton, the Founders Award for Journalistic Excellence from the International Center for Journalists, and the Paul White Award, the highest honor from the Radio Television Digital News Association.

Chris Kalla, Travelers executive vice president and general counsel, said in the release that the company has sponsored the Women’s Day Breakfast since its conception in 2009 and that it has grown from a couple hundred people into a premiere tournament week event that sells out each year.

“While the program is constantly evolving, the reason behind the event has remained a constant. We’re providing women with a forum to network, learn from one another, and get more involved in the game of golf,” Kalla said.

In the coming weeks, additional speakers will be announced. Tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. on May 22 and can be purchased here. According to the release, tickets will be limited to two per person and will include general admission and parking to the tournament’s first round of competition on Thursday, June 20.
