Star-studded lineup to perform at Mohegan Sun over the coming weeks

From Dierks Bentley to Childish Gambino to Meghan Trainer and more, stellar live entertainment continues at Mohegan Sun Arena, the Sun Patio and the Wolf Den.

MONTVILLE, Conn. — Some of the music industry’s finest artists will travel to Connecticut to perform at Mohegan Sun on select Saturdays this month and next.

According to a release from the casino on Thursday, a variety of musicians with millions of records sold between them will grace the respective stages at Mohegan Sun Arena, the newly renovated Sun Patio and the Wolf Den.

“Our new summer entertainment lineup includes a few special nights where all three of our major entertainment venues are packed with electrifying talent at the same time, creating an unforgettable experience for our guests,” Mohegan Sun Director of Sports and Entertainment Greg Romeyn said in the release.

Romeyn added that Mohegan Sun Arena, the Wolf Den and the brand-new Sun Patio each offer a unique atmosphere that features high energy and a diverse talent lineup that guests won’t find anywhere else.

Dierks Bentley – Aug. 10 – Mohegan Sun Arena

This Saturday, multi-Platinum singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley will perform in Mohegan Sun Arena at 7 p.m. with openers Chase Rice and Kaitlin Butts.

“Bentley’s unique, 21st Century career has had a rare consistency fueled by longevity,” the release said.

Over the past two decades, Bentley has had eight albums reach the top of the country sales charts, resulting in 22 No. 1 songs, eight billion streams, three CMA Awards and 15 Grammy nominations.

Branded Country That Rocks – Aug. 10 – The Wolf Den

Known across New England and the mid-Atlantic states for playing country that rocks, Branded also dabbles in pop, hip hop and rock & roll. The family-oriented band regularly plays at fairgrounds, baseball stadiums, campgrounds and casinos across the region.

“They bring something for everyone to enjoy from the bar stool to the dance floor,” the release said.

The performance will occur in The Wolf Den at 10:30 p.m. One must be 21+ to enter The Wolf Den. Limited seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests may line up no sooner than three hours before the show, the release said, adding that one person can hold four spots in line, but seats will only be given to those present at the time of seating.

Childish Gambino – Aug. 24 – Mohegan Sun Arena

At 8 p.m. on Aug. 24, Childish Gambino, or Donald Glover, will take center stage. The comedian and musician rose to fame as a write for the show “30 Rock” and had a breakout role on the sitcom “Community.”

As a Grammy Award-winning artist, Gambino is revered for his unique brand of hip-hop. He won the Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance in 2017 for the single “Redbone.” From comedy to rapping to singing to acting, Gambino can do it all. Glover will be one of the biggest names to perform at Mohegan Sun this summer. This will be Glover’s last tour as Childish Gambino.

The Docksiders – Aug. 24 – 8 p.m. 

“Imagine that it’s 1981 and you’re cruising the Atlantic shores of the Hamptons with your friends,” the Mohegan Sun release said. “Bikinis are fluorescent, polo collars are popped, and boat shoes are rocked sockless. In the background, your booming sound system is playing the Soft Rock sounds of Michael McDonald, Olivia Newton-John, Hall & Oates, Christopher Cross and Air Supply.”

According to the release, The Docksiders is made up of veteran musicians, led by three-time Grammy nominee Kevin Sucher. The tribute act will perform at Mohegan Sun later this month in The Sun Patio.

All guests must be 21+ and have a valid ID to enter the Sun Patio. Seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Guests are welcome to bring their own chairs but not their own food or beverages.  

Wicked Peach – Aug. 24 – 10:30 p.m.

Mohegan Sun considers Wicked Peach to be this area’s “ultimate Rock cover band and a staple on the southeastern New England music scene.”

The band features Ernie Lewis on the lead vocals/guitar, Dan Watson on lead guitar/vocals, Stan Smith on bass guitar and Jonathan Souza on drums.

“Wicked Peach continues to rock the house night after night,” the release said.

Meghan Trainor – Sept. 21 – 6:30 p.m.

New England native and Grammy-winning hitmaker Meghan Trainor is touring for the first time in seven years and has made Mohegan Sun Arena one of her destinations.

“Meghan Trainor first made history in 2014 with her diamond-certified smash single ‘All About the Bass,’ the release said. “Since then, the award-winning singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has garnered a Grammy for ‘Best New Artist,’ achieved eight multi-platinum singles and two multi-platinum albums, sold out three world tours penned multi-platinum hits for peers across Pop and Country, and received countless industry awards and nominations,” the release said.

Kimberly Perry of The Band Perry – Sept. 21 – 8 p.m.

Kimberly Perry is one-third of the Grammy-winning sibling trio The Band Perry and has sold millions of albums with billions of streams. She will appear at Mohegan Sun on Sept. 21 in The Sun Patio.

“As a songwriter, her groundbreaking crossover No. 1 single ‘If I Die Young’ helped Kimberly burst onto the word stage. As an entertainer, she’s performed on TV’s biggest shows, from late night’s most influential… to daytime’s most popular,” the release said.

Perry has performed and presented at multiple CMA, ACM and CMT award shows and specials, according to the release.

FUSION – Sept. 21 – 10:30 p.m. 

FUSION, a high-energy six-piece Top 40 band from Southeastern Connecticut, has been “packing dance floors and entertaining audiences for over 15 years,” the release said.

From playing the hits of the 1960s all the way up to today’s most recognizable songs in different genres, FUSION plays it all. On Sept. 21, the band will be playing at The Wolf Den.

“There’s something for everybody so come on out and party with FUSION,” the release said.
