CONNECTICUT, USA — As Veterans Day approaches, Planet Fitness gyms in Connecticut are rewarding veterans and active-duty military members with free, weeklong gym passes.

IGNITE Fitness Holdings, Planet Fitness’ largest franchise group, announced Thursday that it will hold an extended open house at all Planet Fitness clubs, allowing veterans, active-duty military personnel, their friends and family to work out for free.

The open house runs from Nov. 8-16, and veterans and current military members will also receive a free cooler drink to thank them for their service to the country.

“Planet Fitness deeply admires and appreciates the sacrifices made by our veterans and active military to serve and protect our country,” IGNITE Fitness Holdings Senior Regional Vice President of Operations Mike Shapiro said.

Shapiro emphasized the importance of exercise for both mental and physical health.

“So, we are thrilled to open our clubs to military personnel this week to thank them for their service, and hope they stop in to take advantage of all our facilities have to offer,” Shapiro said.

Beyond hosting the Veterans Day Open House, Planet Fitness employs military veterans through its Hire Heroes USA program and recognizes local veteran Jesse Thomas, who is an assistant regional manager at the Branford Planet Fitness location.

Thomas served two years as a combat engineer in the United States Army.

“Thank you, Jesse, for your dedicated service both during your time in the Army and as our assistant regional manager in Branford,” Shapiro said.
