Bristol police identify man killed in motorcycle crash

Bristol police responded to a fatal motorcycle crash on Mountain Road Sunday morning.

BRISTOL, Conn. — Bristol police are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that took place Sunday morning.

Police said they responded to the crash on Mountain Road around 11:00 a.m.

Based on preliminary information, investigators learned that Peter Speranza, 35, of Bristol was traveling on a motorcycle west on Pine Street and continued onto Mountain Road, where police said he failed to negotiate a curve and collided with a Honda CRV going east on Mountain Road.

Speranza was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the CRV had minor injuries and was treated and released from a local hospital.

According to police, the Bristol Police Department's Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating.

Police closed the road during the investigation but have since reopened it as of 4:30 p.m.
