EASTON, Conn. — Easton police are investigating a double-fatal crash that happened Saturday evening.
The crash happened just after 7:30 p.m. on Route 58 south of Center Road. When first responders got to the scene, they found one vehicle on fire and another one with severe damage.
The Easton Fire Department was also called to the scene to extinguish the vehicle fire. Police identified one of the drivers as 58-year-old Bridgeport resident Mario Licona. He was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.
The other driver, 87-year-old Florence Mahoney of Redding, was rushed to Saint Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, where she later died from her injuries.
Both of the vehicles were only occupied by the drivers.
