BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Bridgeport Superior Court jury found a Bridgeport man guilty on Friday of the 2020 murder of Jamain Allen.
According to the state’s Division of Criminal Justice, Tavares Jefferson was found guilty of murder, first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit.
Prosecutors say that Jefferson shot Allen six times and Jose Rivera once on Oct. 2, 2020, as payback after Allen’s brother stole three kilograms of cocaine.
The shootings occurred at the Quick Stop barbershop on Pequonnock Street in Bridgeport, where Allen and Rivera worked. Allen was killed by a shot to the head, while Rivera survived a gunshot wound to the arm.
Jefferson is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 12 at Bridgeport Superior Court.
In a release, State’s Attorney Joseph Corradino expressed gratitude towards the Bridgeport Police Department for their “professionalism in the investigation of this homicide.”
