Office of Inspector General releases preliminary report on Oct. 5 officer-involved shooting in Bridgeport

Police bodycam footage of the altercation has also been released by the Office of Inspector General.
Bridgeport police said they were responding to a call for service on Terry Place when the man stabbed one of the officers in the shoulder, neck and head.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The Connecticut Office of Inspector General has released its preliminary report following an officer-involved shooting in Bridgeport early Saturday morning.

Police bodycam footage of the altercation that left an officer and a suspect hospitalized has also been released.

The Inspector General says that approximately 1 a.m. on Oct. 5, Bridgeport police officers Marie Cetti, Jesse Jimenz, Maria Canhassi and Jahmaine Mercer were dispatched to 147 Terry Place regarding an emotionally disturbed person at that location.

The report notes that upon their arrival, the officers encountered Huntley Jackson, a 45-year-old African American male. Officers were on the front porch of the residence and spoke to Jackson, who was standing in the front doorway, according to the Inspector General.

The report goes on to state that, at one point, Jackson brandished a knife, ran onto the front porch and attacked Officer Cetti, who was cut on her shoulder, head and neck. According to the Inspector General, Officer Jimenez then fired his weapon twice, striking Jackson in the torso.
