BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Officials are investigating after police shot a man with a knife in Bridgeport.
Bridgeport police received multiple calls reporting a man with a knife in the 200 block of Birdseye Street just before 6 a.m. Thursday.
Arriving officers found the man, and then officers "discharged their firearms," police said. The man was shot in the leg, police said. It is not clear how many officers responded and how many officers fired their guns.
The man was taken to Saint Vincent's Hospital, police said.
The Inspector General's office will investigate this incident.
The officer or officers involved will be placed on modified duty during the investigation, per the Bridgeport Police Department's protocol.
