Fairfield crash leaves pedestrian in 'critical' condition, police say

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A crash in Fairfield Sunday morning left a pedestrian in critical condition, according to the town's police department.

At 11:37 a.m., officers went to the crash at the intersection of New England Avenue and Kings Highway Cutoff, police said.

Investigators learned that a vehicle hit a person who was crossing the road, according to police. They were taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Their current status is unknown.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, according to police.

Police closed Kings Highway Cutoff during the investigation but it is now reopen.

Investigators have not been a determination of fault and the Fairfield Police Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the crash, police said.
