NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Two motorcycles got into a crash on Route 34 in New Haven late Friday night, killing one of the operators, according to Connecticut State Police.
Troopers responded to Route 34 West near South Orange Street around 11:10 p.m. after New Haven police notified state police of the fatal crash.
Both motorcycles were going west on Route 34, and one rear-ended the other when they got to the South Orange Street intersection, which caused both operators to fall off their bikes, according to state police.
Both motorcyclists were taken to the hospital for their injuries. One of them, identified by state police as Noel Gonzalez, 49 of Waterbury, later died from his injuries. The 41-year-old motorcyclist from New Haven has non-life-threatening injuries, state police said.
The investigation into this crash is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 203-696-2500.
