WESTON, Connecticut — Weston firefighters, with help from other towns, battled a large house fire Thursday evening, according to officials.

In a Facebook post at 5:44 p.m., Weston First Selectwoman Samantha Nestor said that firefighters responded to the fire on Weston Road.

The Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company urged people to avoid the area of Weston Road/Route 57 in the area of Broad Street. Firefighters have since cleared the scene.

It is currently unknown if anyone was injured.

The Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Service, or WVEMS, said multiple mutual aid departments assisted with the fire near the Westport town line.

"As we all begin to relax after meals and memories with our families - may we all give thanks to those on-duty today to keep their communities safe. We are especially thankful for our first responder neighbors in Weston who battled a large house fire this evening near the Westport town line, along with several other mutual aid departments," WVEMS said in a Facebook post. "Give thanks for all that you have tonight, and may all of our first responders stay safe so they can return to their families soon. We’re proud to serve this community and work alongside so many others."

Agencies that responded to the Weston fire included the town's volunteer fire department, EMS and police department, along with mutual aid from Westport, Easton, Wilton, Ridgefield, Georgetown, the Red Cross, Aquarion, Eversource and Soco Gas, Nestor said.
