BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A man was arrested Sunday after two people were attacked with a "sharp-edged weapon" in Bridgeport, the city's police department said.
Keenan Corley, 38, of Bridgeport, is facing charges of criminal attempt murder on two counts, and assault in the first degree on two counts.
According to police, officers first arrived to a local hospital at 4:50 a.m. after receiving a report about a 47-year-old woman who had a laceration to the neck.
A 33-year-old woman also arrived at the hospital with a laceration to the neck a short time later, police said.
The two women had left the Forty 2 Hookah Lounge and were walking along Knowlton Street when they were both attacked by Corley, who was equipped with a "sharp-edged weapon," police said, adding that he then took off from the scene on foot.
One of the women had been in a domestic relationship with Corley, according to police. Both are expected to survive from their injuries.
Police said the area of Knowlton Street on the 200 block was closed off while police were investigating and has since reopened to traffic.
The Bridgeport Police Department's Detective Bureau is leading the investigation under the direction of Sgt. Sue Cortello, police said.
