MANCHESTER, Conn — The driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that injured a teen on an electric scooter in Manchester on Friday was arrested, the town's police department said Sunday.
According to police, Catherine Fryer, 26, of Hartford, is facing charges including evading responsibility, risk of injury to a minor, operating under suspension, misuse of marker plate and insufficient insurance.
On Friday, police said officers were called to a crash at 6:57 a.m. involving a vehicle and an electric scooter at the intersection of West Middle Turnpike and New State Road.
A 15-year-old who was riding the scooter and headed to school at the time, according to police, was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators determined the vehicle involved, described as a green Nissan Altima, had taken off from the scene of the crash before officers arrived. Police said they were eventually able to find the driver, identified as Fryer, with help from the community.
Fryer was held on a $100,000 bond and is expected at Manchester Superior Court on July 8.
