BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A man is in critical condition after a hit-and-run in Bridgeport on Friday, according to the city's police department Monday.
At 6:36 p.m. on Nov. 22, the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received multiple calls about a vehicle that hit a pedestrian and took off from the scene, police said.
Callers reported that the crash happened at the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and State Street Extension.
Bridgeport Fire Engine 7, American Medical Response, and Bridgeport police responded to the crash. Arriving officers found firefighters providing aid to an unconscious man lying on the ground, according to police.
Based on a preliminary investigation, police believe an unknown vehicle was traveling east on Fairfield Avenue and hit a 44-year-old Bridgeport man in the intersection before taking off in an unknown direction.
AMR brought the man to the hospital where he is currently in critical condition, police said.
